RAI Radio Networks, until a short while ago gave masses of space to what is better known as "Radio Fiction", and what were called "Radio Plays", "Radio Dramas, etc.
Now, there is next to no fiction on the radio. The existing fiction is more often than not hastily carried out. There are 3 main reasons (1 official and 2 never mentioned but existant).
1) (Official) Radio Fiction is too expensive, and according to
. market research, not sufficiently appreciated by the audience.
2) (Never mentioned) To produce radio fiction one has to work at least 100 times more than when having to produce musical and talk shows (or just talk shows): one has to read, choose authors, choose directors, have an idea towards what kind of audience the programmes are directed
one has to have some preparation!
3) (Also never mentioned) There are no "experts" left in this field, who appreciate this type of radio, and that know how to prepare the programmes: often the new directors have no idea what the radio is, and furthermore consider it the last rung of the ladder (many would much prefer working for the television).

Testacoda has always produced audio and loves the radio. The authors and directors are all aware of the importance and value of the radio, they have always produced fiction, as well as all the other types of programmes and also winning several national prizes.
Testacoda is convinced that radio listeners more often than not, prefer to listen to stories that stimulate their fantasy and imagination, that satisfy their need to know and their curiosity. They want something that captures their attention, without tying them down like the Television.

Testacoda is now putting final touches to a long series of radio fiction (Fast Food Fiction®) and can transfer plays, stories and gradualy all the evocative force of words and sounds to the private radio stations (or commercial networks).

The first Fast Food Fiction proposals are:

A verbal portrait of every single dream, a "radio film" created from a dream, the psychiatrists interpretation and the number assigned to each single situation by the book "Smorfia" (a series of 3 numbers is then given to gamble at Italian Lotto).

If you believe in Testacoda's ideas, or only some of the ideas, if you don't want us to transmit only music (or "the usual kind of music") if you miss listening to stories on the radio, or stories that interest you, that you have a dream, write or telephone to your favourite radio stations and recommend Testacoda's project together with its web site (http://www.testacoda.com/): the more radio stations (in Italian) are interested in fiction the sooner you will get to listen to it.
If you have any other ideas regarding radio fiction, or on what you have previously read (or listened to) in our web pages write to radio@testacoda.com, and Testacoda will treasure your suggestions and advice.
